Cherries, Paperbacks & Musical Instruments
I was awoken at an unsightly hour by mum who had a brimming smile on her face, a classic pink polo and a bowl with something inside. Mum NEVER smiles so this was something significantly serious… The bowl she was holding was filled with cherries. CHERRIES. You see, in our family, the mere sight of cherries is a rarity. Yes, mum buys them, but dad eats pretty much all of them. If you want cherries and dad’s home, don’t even think about it. Your chances are as slim as my social life. So that’s why I was ecstatic, elated and in a complete state of euphoria when mum being an absolute legend brought these into my room.
The day continued and after watching Jimmy get shot, Craig experience a drug addiction and Manny get an abortion, I thought it was time to stop watching Degrassi and do something somewhat productive. This lead to the conclusion that I shall head to the one place that will heighten one of my new year resolutions which was to read more - the library.
And since we're being honest here, here's what would've been reaction if someone asked me to go to the library with them last year...
Around lunch time, mum drove me to the library. It was hot as hell but my new year resolution motivation is strong so I threw all temperature inhibitions away and ran to those books like there was no tomorrow...
As it’s been quite some time since the last time I went to my local library, my library knowledge was a bit sketchy… this resulted in mum and I waiting by the wrong door and for a brief moment, we thought the library was closed…. We then attempted to enter via another door and as the doors opened, they made a loud noise - I jolted and mum screamed... Forever strugglin' to complete daily tasks in a civilised manner....
I ended up getting two books, “The Beauty is in the Walking” and “The Dead I Know”. Ironically, both by Australian authors. They’re both crime stories as I love mystery books (nearly as much as sci-fi books) as they make me feel like Sherlock Holmes and are perfect to keep me company when Law & Order SVU isn’t on.

Whilst we were at the library, we came across this epic musical instrument made out of foil and cans. Sounds random, but when you tapped on each can it would make a different sound. It was pretty epic and just goes to show that you don’t need no fancy JB-HI musical instrument to make a sound.
Get yo read on kids, they require no social interaction and are free so the cheapo within will be leaping with joy!
