Who Will You Become?
* I wrote this in the early hours of the morning, had 3 hours of sleep but I couldn't go back to sleep for some reason. I had a word document out, paused for a moment, typed away with little thought and then this blog post article happened. This is more poetic than my usual blog posts - to my English teachers, you're welcome.*
We live in a word where we evolve and grow as we age. We learn from experiences, hopefully redeem ourselves from the mistakes we’ve made and figure out who we are as people. You are a spectacular being you, filled with magical thoughts that change and choices which can lead to one funny a story too many. But as we change and grow, what kind of people will we be in the future?
As humans we are an awesome bunch whose thoughts and interests differ. For we live in a remarkable world with uniqueness, innovation and progression. Nothing is ever stagnant, the earth is never obsolete and without you the world will never be complete.
We go through phases which shape who we are. You were a fetus and now you’re a living, breathing human whose life experience is like no other. And mentally, this is where our phases are the most unique… I’m sure you’ve gone through some cringe worthy phases (I have many). But these phases are an indication of your development, evolution and your minds’ on-going persistence to change.
The fact that we’re always transforming as people is why the future you is such an intriguing concept. Who knows who you’ll be? Perhaps soon enough, I’ll be a typical sussan wearing, easy steps walking middle aged lady who can throw shade to youthful delinquents like a boss. I’ve got the majority of my life ahead and the fact that to be frank I really don’t know what to do scares me.
The future is a vulnerable thing, who is easily shaped by your surroundings and can change within a heartbeat. The future is a scary thing, whose unpredictability just wishes God could send you a clue, just one, about what the future holds. The future is a marvellous thing, which is able to adapt and learn from previous life experiences. But most importantly, the future is a beautiful thing, a significant part in in the space time continuum that allows you to live. Continue on playing your part in the universe, sharing the uniqueness of you with the world.
But I guess you’re wondering, why am I telling you this? What’s the point in mere contemplation when these thoughts alone can’t cause you to glimpse into the actual future? Well beautiful being, the main thing is this - Are you really living? Are you really doing what you love? Why have a future when it could be filled with the gloomy inadequacy of longing? Although we can’t time travel into a later time, we can definitely change it.
As cliché as this sounds, the future is your calling.
